Establishing Professional Contacts and Expanding Resources
The website that I chose to get in contact with two early childhood professionals was The Global Fund for Children. The two countries that I chose are Middle East and North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. I sent a message through their website that included my name explaining what my assignment was for the next eight weeks. A man name Thom Green responded back to me informing me that he would be glad to connect me with some of the people and to tell him a couple of Working Groups that I am interested in, then he would be able to connect me with someone from those groups. I emailed him back several times, but have not heard anything from anyone thus far. The early childhood organization that I chose is the National Black Child Development Institute. I chose this organization because I am very interested in learning more about it.
LaShaunda,
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful that you were able to establish some contact with someone. I am still waiting to hear back and will probably have to do the alternate assignment. Either way I am excited to hear more about early childhood in other parts of the globe. I think it will be great to learn from each other. I haven't looked at the National Black Child Development Institute. I will have to look into it. What have you learned from it?

I am so excited for you that you have made contact with an international ECE professional!! I have sent out about ten emails, several of which came back as "failure to send" notice due to inactive email accounts. I hope to hear from someone soon! I think I will also explore the podcast alternative as well, but you having made contact with someone has given me hope!! I also have decided to explore and research the National Black Child Development Institute. I chose this website because the program I work for serves many black families, and as a white teacher, I want to be the best teacher I can to all of my students, regardless of their race or ethnicity. I think this website will provide me with much needed insight to respectfully address the needs, challenges, and strengths of my black students and their families, as well as building partnerships with these families.
ReplyDeleteLaShaunda it is great to hear you have made contact with someone. It is truly amazing on what you can find out about other countries around the globe as it relates to early childhood education an their issues and trends. In addition I am a member of the National Black Child Development as well as Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children. You can learn a great deal from both organizations.
ReplyDeleteLaShaunda, sounds like you have made contact with the right person. I really hope you get connected and find out lots of information to share with us.
